2007 a year in review

December 31, 2007

2007 started as a pretty normal year. I got accepted to Vertice (the high class elite group in my college) but I denied the invitation because I knew that it wasn’t for me at all.

Starting the second semester of my freshman year I got stuck with one of the toughest Calculus teachers ever: La Pita *gasp*. Somehow I managed to survive by the skin of my teeth and didn’t have to ask for any extra points. That smae semester I started taking classes with one of my favourite professors ever: The Russian, his real name is Alexander Borisovich Reshetkov and he is a great teacher, besides his subject is Physics which is my favourite subject ever. I also got and got rid of my first stalker, thanks to my dear Javi and Diego who posed as my fake boyfriends n_n. I love those two to death.

Later on in Mid-February I got one of the best surprises ever: my little dog, Maximus Decimus Meridius. We had a rough start with him because we got him too smal, only two weeks old. We had to teach him how to eat, how to drink water and almost how to walk. That same month I started hanging out more and more with Nacho until we reached the level of friends that are all over each other in an appropiate way of course. Nacho wore my scarves and Alekz hats and he always posed for my pictures. I think that it was during this time that Alekz and Mido broke up, I don’t have anymore details about that.

March was a quite stressful month exams were starting and our Programing teacher was plain lazy and we all failed our first partials, it was awful. this month I got to be friends with Hector, Beto and Chou via Diego. We used to sit in the last row of computers at the lab during Programing (even though Chou wasn’t in our class @_@) along with 5 other people, the fact that it was crowded was the least of our problems. The best part of March is that we got our first Anahuac Day and it was awesome!! I got my first graffiti experience and watched a wrestling match n_n also Nacho started getting stalker girls.

April was nice, we has Spring Break and at the very end of the break we went climbing. Yes, climbing to the Nevado de Toluca, along with Nacho, Javi, Shana Pol, Lizbeth, Ixchel, Mido, Kitty, Abi, Nancy, Isaac, Alekz. Prof. Alexander organized the expedition and it was my first time climbing and according to him I wasn’t too bad at all. It was a tiring but great experience and we got to see the snow. It started snowing after we got down and it soon turned into a mini blizzard, we left immediatly. I also bought my first two Element itmes, my Rihana fleece and my purple thermal that I adore. First Engineer Week too.

With May came that time of the year, the time of finals. To say that we were stressed beyond our wildest dreams was an understatement, we had projects and exams. Somehow we were there for each other at all times, helping each other out and we managed to get through another semester.

June and July were quite dull, as always happen during my vacations. Maori came to Mexico and I hung out with her, I saw some of my friends and went shopping with Liz, we celebrated Alekz’ 20th birthday and tried to cheer Javi up while he was in Summer school. I saw Arely maybe once but I talked to her. I did my schedule for the new semester and it ended up being just plain awful. Also during this time I started and stopped dating A, it was an awful thing that happened. I also came across iCiNG and Gala Darling. I started commenting on Gilda’s blog. On July 21st I lined up to get the worst book ever.

August is the best month of the year. Because it is my birthday. I turned 19 years old in August 4th. I got a new outfit from my sister, a whole lot of clothes and books from my dad and shoes from my mum. I went out that night with Javi, Mariana, Oscar, Diego, Karla, Damiel and I met Torra, Diego’s best friend who lives in the US. I danced a lot and got a little tipsy, it was great fun becuase it was the first time that I went dancing with Diego. Yes, I love Diego, I think that he is my best male friend. He’s the one that alwys listens to my problems and we talk all the time. I started my third semester and the first one of my sophomore year at college. I got stuck with my worst professor yet: Bobadilla.

September showed how bad I was going to get it. The Communication students hated me, I wans’t making any friends in my Seminar class and my Calculus life was going awful. I failed two exams and had a very bad presentation. Luckily Shana Pol and Laura’s birthday and Diego’s jokes got me through this time. I also tried to take care of Liz, she was having a bad time with her brother being sick. We all needed a break and Javi’s birthday party proved to be it. I also went to Ayumi’s b-day party and tried to go to the movies with Arely.

October was a better month, Liz was going to Italy for her sister’s wedding and I made friends with four designer chicks in my Seminar class, I had also come to terms with the Communication students. My only problem was Calculus and the fact that I wanted to strangle my professor. Liz went off to Italy and I was sad and depressed because we’ve enver been apart more than a week in school time. Exams came and I was doing better, but no as good to be able to realx about Calculus.

November proved to be a pretty relaxing month, at least for me. I was set to fail Calculus and started this blog. I started getting more online friends and just beign myself. I stopped wearing jeans all the time and just strted to become more feminine. I finished my semester with enough average to keep my scholarship.

December proved to be about good news, I met my newest nephew. I spend time with my grandmother and my uncles. I got a new hoodie and I just kept a low key life. I got enough energy to start he new year and I got more direction with my 101 things in 1001 days list.

I hope 2008 is better year.

Juls.

I have something to say

December 30, 2007

Today has been hectic, my parents are hosting a dinner party tonight and my mum is out of town.

My cousin who lives with my grandmother got appendicitis and had to be rushed into emergency surgery. Well things got complicated and it was anything but pretty. My mum left this morning to stay there and take care of her.

The thing is that my dad refused to have his dinner party cancelled, so my sister and I are cleaning all the house, washing the dishes and reheating the tukey n_n. Maximus has been crying all day, my sister took him on his walk and now he is asleep n_n. My little baby is such a nuisance, but he is way too cute.

It seems that I’ve gotten a pen-pal. Her name is Elizabeth, she is 16 years-old and she is from Poland, I’ve never met someone from Europe, other than Mike and Benoit but they really don’t count n_n. I think this pen-pal thing is going to be exciting.

Alekz asked me what I wanted from Element and I was like o_O seriously? He hasn’t answered my email so I don’t know. It’d be cool if he brings me something but it’s OK if he doesn’t, I’ll still love him as much as I do now n_n.

Diego has been asking me about my MSN messenger nicks, he says that he doesn’t understand them and that he insits that Milk Hoodie sound like a milkshake. He told me that a friend of his is into anime and Japan too and that the next time they go to the Anime store in Reforma, they are going to take me n_n.

Well, another update later in the day.

Kisses,

Juls.

I have nothing to say today

December 30, 2007

So it is time for another meme, stolen from rainpuddle13 n_n.

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now.

1.- Paraomore – Crushcrushcrush
2.- Paramore – Misery Business
3.- Boys Like Girls – The Great Escape
4.- Motel – Y Te Vas
5.- Timbaland – The Way I Are
6.- Travis – Love Will Come Through
7.- Rihanna – Shut up and Drive

Yep, nothing much today. Tomorrow may be better, who knows?

Kisses,

Julie.

Preparing for the New Year

December 29, 2007

Well there are three days left of 2007 and the new year promises to be a good one.

My mum has the turkey out and we bought everything we need to prepare it. We are going to be making cupcakes too, I’m not sure how because we just have one oven and the turkey is going to be in it *thinks*.

Right now I’m reading way too much Draco/Ginny fanfics, I’m getting my fix before I’m too caught up in other things.

So this week-end we’re taking Maximus to get his hair cut. It is way too long know and I’ll demonstrate with some pictures:

He’s been taking morning walks with my sister and he’s becoming more sociable. Soon we’ll be able to take him to the Doggie Restaurant in La Condesa.

Kisses,

Julie.

This is the last t.I.l.t. of the year!!! I can’t believe 2007 is almost over.

So many good and bad things have happened this year that I don’t even know where to start. I’m grateful for too many things.

Let’s start with the biggest issues:

  • That my dad bought me my car and my laptop
  • That I got wireless internet at home
  • That 3 of my best friends celebrated my birthday with me
  • That my best friend Liz got to go to Italy and that she is an aunt now
  • That I got two new nephews and a new niece
  • Maori coming to MEXICO!!!!

Then the little things that are always good for one’s soul:

  • That I got a group of friends that always got my back
  • Car drives with Diego while teasing Daniel non-stop
  • Talking at high speed with Liz
  • Taking pictures of Javi
  • Arely’s comments
  • Mido’s no-matching earrings
  • Isaac’s hugs
  • Raful always trying to dip me
  • Making fun of Frodo
  • Gossiping with dearst
  • The tale of La Güera by Liz
  • Studying non stop for exams that I know I’m not good at
  • Classes with Communication students
  • Making fun of A
  • Alekz’ smarts and him ignoring me during class when I sit with him
  • Abi’s smiles and his honesty
  • Bobadilla’s “I’m sexy” sticker on his laptop
  • Classes that lasted 30 minutes
  • Sara’s psychological theories and that our conversations always included the word gay n_n
  • Making plans about trips that may never happen

Well it is a very long list and I don’t feel like writing so much.

What were the best things of your year??

Kisses,

Julie.

P.S.: the mosaic is full of things that I want to do/visit.

Shopping, well not quite…

December 27, 2007

Today my dad decided that we needed a road trip so we headed off to Toluca. Toluca is the capital of the Mexico State and it is most know because the Nevado is there.

Anyways. just outside Toluca in a little town called Lerma there is the biggest Outlet in the outskirts of the City. So we headed over there.

First we stopped to eat some Quezadillas made with Blue Tortillas, delicious but way too expensive almost 300 pesos for 10 quezadillas, 1 marrow soup, 2 sodas and 2 orange juices.

My sister with her marrow soup

Quezadillas made with blue tortillas, delicious!!!

We get to the mall and it was HUUUGE, there were a lot of stores of brands that are very hard to get in Mexico like Abercrombie and Fitch, American Eagle and Hollister.

I fell in love with a store called Milk, they had this super cute hoodie that had bunny ears on the hood, it looked funny.

I didn’t buy a lot of things because my dad is still punishing me for almost failing Calculus, I just got some long black leggings and a grey hoodie.

My mum and sister spent hours looking at stuff and in the end they didn’t buy a lot of things.

My dad was pissed so the drive home was far from pleasant.

I can’t wait to go again!!!

Kisses,

Julie.

To the little town we go…

December 26, 2007

Today my mum woke me up and told e to get dressed because we were going to visit my grandmother.

It is tradition that most of my aunts stay at my grandmother’s along with many of my cousins and some of my nieces and nephews.

In total I have:

  • 10 aunts and uncles (my mum’s siblings only)
  • almost 50 cousins (agess go from 47 to 4)
  • like 25 nieces and nephews (ages 17 to 2 months)

Today at my grandmother’s were two of my uncles, my uncle Jaime and my uncle Chino (we call him that but his real name is Florentino like my grandfather). They were trying to outshine one another with their anecdotes and they spend the whole day talking to my sister and I. My grandma calls them The Positive and The Negative because they can’t get to an agreement.

My nephews and little cousin Jimena were playing with the dogs and with all their toys. My aunts were all talking about the new baby and just gossiping in general.

It was a good day, I ate a lot of Mexican food and laughed a lot.

My uncles, The Negative and Positive, in that order

With my cousin Jimena, she’s four years old.

With my grandmother!!!

With my uncle Chino, I don’t see him a lot because he lives in Celaya, Guanajuato.

My sister with my nephew Roberto, he lives in Ensenada, Baja California with my cousin.

Kisses,

Julie.

X-mas? Not for me

December 25, 2007

I don’t celebrate Christmas, it is a fact that has never bothered me at all.

When I was little I used to spend it at my grandma’s and although they did celebrate, my parents didin’t. I never recieved any presents or believed in Santa or anything like that.
My parents always gave me what I wanted whenever I wanted it (if they could afford it, of course and if I deserved it) so I never longed for anything during Christmas. My family is very closed knitted so we never needed a holiday to be close.
I really can’t understand what the big deal with Christmas is, sure, I enjoy watching the lights and all that. I guess that we all have our own beliefs and our own traditions.
I can understand why people get so shocked when I say that I don’t celebrate Christmas. It is so foreign for them having grown up in a world where Christmas is one of the most celebrated and longed for time in the year. It is just unconcievable for them to think about someone that just brushes it off as another day, just like I do.
Well, I’m off to fecth some dinner and continue organizing my 101 thing in 1001 days list. It just needs to finish beign transalated and organized  (I wrote it in Spanish). When it’s done I’ll post it.
Kisses,
Julie.
P.S.: Sorry for not putting pictures of my new nephew but my sister has kidnapped my camera.
